Akureyri swimming

View of Dalvik

This morning I checked out of Harmar camping (or so I thought) and went to Akureyri swimming baths.

Getting changed was a bit of a culture shock, you have to take a shower - and we mean a proper so over weak - in the communal changing rooms. Actually it was okay somehow since everyone was starkers!

The pools I used were all outside which sounds crazy when it's 13 Celsius outside and rather windy but the pool is geothermally heated so it's actual quite pleasant. They had some smaller hotter tubs and a steam room which is as hot as it sounds. There was an ice dip as well but I skipped that!

The are also a pair of sides, one was crazy fast with a circular bit in the middle where you whizz round until you get stuck the extricate yourself down a hole. I suspect you're meant to gracefully drop into the exit but oh no not me.

Anyway I wandered around Akureyri a little then heated to Dalvik camp.

On seeing l arriving I quickly realised that I'd left my hob behind so I had to turn around and get it from Harmar which was a fair journey.  I'd left it outside the car and failed to peck it away.

So arriving in Dalvik the second time I've parked up, early start to get the ferry to grimsey tomorrow.
